Е Ё Є Э
In East Slavic alphabets, there are four
letter that look like E. Despite looking alike,
these letters should not be confused.
In Russian and Belarusian, "
Э
" is a letter
for non-iotated <
ɛ
> sound, and "
Е
" is its
iotated counterpart "ye". The letter "
Ё
" is an
iotated "
О
", or "yo".
In Ukrainian, the non-iotated <
ɛ
> is "
Е
", and
its iotated counterpart is "
Є
" ("ye"). And
there's no "
Ё
" in Ukrainian alphabet.
In Rusyn, the non-iotated <
ɛ
> is "
Е
", its
iotated counterpart is "
Є
" ("ye"), and there is
iotated <
o
> "
Ё
" ("yo").
